Sometimes rear extensions happen in the front yard.
The owners of House P came with an existing plan for an addition to their 1970s brick and timber-clad house, but in need of help to make it work spatially, functionally and aesthetically. A new front addition housing a living room, parent’s bedroom and ensuite bathroom is linked to the original house via a generous concrete and timber stair. The original house was reconfigured internally to provide additional bedrooms, a family room and study nook.
Timber cladding and painted brick reference the materials of the original house, and provide a new street presence. Timber decks on each side of the link provide improved access across level changes, places to sit and areas for bags and boots upon arrival.
